National Ambulance Provides Medical Support for UAE National Sports Day

Abu Dhabi, 18 February 2017: National Ambulance provided emergency medical coverage for the community in the Northern Emirates for UAE National Sports Day. At the request of the UAE Olympic Committee, National Ambulance strategically deployed ambulances, manned by highly trained clinical staff, last Thursday to support a variety of sporting events held across Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah.

Organised by UAE Olympic Committee, UAE National Sports Day featured over 220 separate events across the country to promote participation in sport as part of a healthy life-style. No major injuries were reported in the Northern Emirates with a small number of minor cases which were treated on scene. National Ambulance Deputy CEO, Ahmed Saleh Al Hajeri, said: “National Ambulance is committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of the nation. As part of our social responsibility to the communities we serve, we strategically deployed our modern ambulances and highly qualified personnel to support more than 30 events across the Northern Emirates, ensuring we were able to care for everyone in case of an emergency."

As well as encouraging participation in sport, UAE National Sports Day also sought to promote community cohesion across the nation with this year’s theme being ‘the UAE unites us’. Al Hajeri added: “UAE Sports Day epitomises the vision of our nation’s leaders for a country that is harmonious and happy. The positive interaction among the various multi-cultural segments of our society made it a special day, an event that National Ambulance was extremely proud to take an active part in.”

National Ambulance is the emergency ambulance service provider in the Northern Emirates. The pre-hospital care service also provides onsite emergency medical coverage and support across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the Northern Emirates. This includes support for high profile sports events, such as the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Grand Prix, HSBC Golf Championship and Volvo Ocean Race, as well as onsite teams at Yas Marina Circuit and Abu Dhabi International Airport that provide constant emergency medical support.  National Ambulance also provides patient transfer services between medical facilities, including for patients who need to be moved from an airport for medical procedures.
