Abu Dhabi, 2 March 2015: National Ambulance has celebrated its first anniversary of providing emergency services in the Northern Emirates. A year ago, and under the directives of  H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and the support of Lieutenant General H.H. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, National Ambulance commenced operations to provide round-the-clock, rapid emergency response to patients across UAE’s Northern Emirates.

Since commencing operations, National Ambulance has been providing the highest standards of pre-hospital care across the Northern Emirates. In its first year, the service has dispatched its fleet of 24 vehicles to more than 30,600 incidents (in doing so travelling a distance of more than one million kilometres) with its 180 paramedics treating over 33,500 patients. In this time, its paramedics have delivered 12 babies, rescuing 5 more.

Mohamed Ibrahim Al Ameri, Chairman of National Ambulance Board of Directors said: “The service having been operated around the clock without interruption is testament to our staff who have demonstrated extraordinary levels of care and compassion on daily basis. We thank the staff of National Ambulance for all their hard work. Through their dedication and commitment to serve the communities across the Northern Emirates, we will continue to deliver high quality ambulance services and constantly improve the care we deliver to the communities we serve.”

Ahmed Saleh Al Hajeri Deputy CEO of National Ambulance said:  "We are honoured to carry out the directions of our leadership to improve the lives of those they serve. The service has been welcomed by the citizens and residents of the Northern Emirates who have regularly provided positive feedback to us. We take real pride in the accomplishments we are celebrating today, and we can be confident in our abilities to consistently deliver."

Al Hajeri added: “The achievements of the National Ambulance and its staff would not have been possible without the close liaison and support from the Civil Defence and the Ministry of Interior in each of the Emirates. Over the past year there have been many occasions where this close cooperation has saved lives.”

National Ambulance is looking to build its service further. In January this year H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, has allocated a plot of land for constructing the National Ambulance building in the emirate.
